Odisha celebrates Rasagola Dibasa (Rasagola Day) today on 6th July 2017 (Thursday), a festival to celebrate an ancient syrupy, spongy sweet that defines the taste of Odisha. Be it festivals, weddings, or a mere get-together, Rasagolas are a must to end the occasion on a sweet note.
The world needs to be informed that Odisha is the birthplace of the Rasagola. Odisha’s rich & ancient culture & heritage & Niladri Bije of Ratha Jatra has the Rasagola connection.
Before entering into the temple, the Trinity would be offered ‘Rasagola’ bhog on the chariots. With Niladri Bije (homecoming of the deities), the annual Rath Yatra of the deities will come to an end and the deities will give darshan to the devotees in the main temple.
Niladri Bije is a holy ritual. It is marked as a sacred day. Niladri Bije is the last day of Rath Yatra where Lord Jaggannath offers rasagola to Goddess Laxmi in order to get entry into the temple. This ritual, known as Bachanika, is part of the "Niladri Bije"
It is a day of joy for the people residing in Odisha. The locals are celebrating Rasagola Dibasa. To elaborate, they are celebrating the tradition of offering rasagola to Lord Jaggannath and Goddess Laxmi on the day of Niladri Bije.
On this last day of the Ratha Jatra, Lord Jagannath is permitted to enter the Temple premises only after he offers Rasagolas to his wife, Goddess Lakshmi, to appease her for the slight of leaving her behind in the temple.
